Static Caravan Parks are sites that have static caravans on site on a semi-permanent basis. Static caravans are the larger style caravans that will live most of their life on a caravan park plot and generally only be moved to another park, showground or scrapyard. Static caravans being the larger and less mobile of the lot tend to be higher specced and spacious than touring caravans or motorhomes.

Touring Caravan Parks are sites that have many plots that can be rented out on a nightly basis with basic services such as electric, and occasionally water / gas. As tourers are generally less equipped than their static counterparts touring caravan parks need to have more facilities on site such as sanitary and toilet blocks, water hookups and waste disposal areas. Motorhome parks are normally just touring caravan parks, except normally motorhomes will have hard standing pitches, though this really isnt a necessity when in the dryer months of the year.

Campsites are the holiday parks that cater to tents, people will rent a pitch on a nightly basis and pitch their tent up. Most sites will have sanitary and toilet blocks to facilitate campers. A campsite is very similar to a touring park other than you take your tent there. Most campsites dont tend to have an electric hookup specifically for tents though most sites will accomodate for the campers if it is needed.

Its not very often that the mere sight of a caravan park makes me take a step back, the pool on this site alone was enough to make me think twice about whether we had got the right place. I am used to ‘roughing’ it at a CL site in the middle of some churned up field not of the splendour this site provided. The staff were polite and willing to help where they could so I couldnt really complain about any of that.

Nearby there is lots to do ranging from viewing the Wells Cathedral, Longleat House, Safari, Bath and the Cheddar cheese factory all make this a great place to take a family. All in all you really couldnt go far wrong with this place, thoroughly recommended.

Arrow Bank is a family run park enjoying peace and tranquillity in a spacious landscaped setting in the picturesque Tudor village of Eardisland. Touring caravans, motor homes and tents are well catered for on a flat, level field with electric hook-up points. Seasonal pitches are available on an adult only basis. New for 2008 a heated amenity block and Wi-Fi access. Touring park open from 1st March to 7th January.

With its 34 touring caravan / motorhome camp plots and several tent pitches it is has a  modest campsite area that has much to offer those seasoned travellers and newbie’s alike. Arrowbank’s main focus is in its holiday homes that it sells and hires out.

These holiday homes are available as static caravans and log cabins / park homes. The log cabins are high quality and set on a beautiful background of an idyllic tudor village that has lots to offer for families and couples looking for a bit of history from their holiday.

Arrowbank Caravan Park offers onsite laundry facilities, full disabld facilities throughout the site, wifi coverage onsite and nearby bird watching and fishing. Each plot has designated visitor parking and seasonal pitches offer piped gas as standard along with the usual electric hook-up.

I have been caravanning and camping for many years and have stayed at some very good caravan parks, I have also camped at some less reputable parks. I will be focusing primarily on those that I have both had good experiences with and those that others have recommended to me for whatever reason.
